An update on preparing for Baby Stockman

I have been very behind in updating this blog! I guess I just have to be in the mood to blog and I guess I am finally at that point where I am ready to write about all that we have been doing in preparing our lives for baby stockman. We still have not officially decided on a name yet. Right now, we really like the name:
Bentley Everette Stockman
Like I said, its not official and we are still open to other name options. In the last month, we have started putting Bentley's room together and now have a crib, a chair and a dresser in his nursery.

Can I just say that I am so thankful for my Husband and all of his many talents that he has been given. He has done so much for Bentley's room that there is no way I could have done anything without him. He is a handy man and a crafty man. My hubby sure is the best!

Here is Nic putting together the crib...boy was he excited about putting it together too!

Nic and I saw this elephant art work that we really liked so we decided to make it ourselves for the nursery. Nic, being the creative one that he is, did most of the work. I did a little painting to contribute to the project. Nic and I aren't doing an elephant or animal theme but we wanted to put something neutral on the walls. Below is Nic working on the project and a picture of it completed and in the nursery.

My grandmother also gave us a dresser that she was not using. It was dark green and had many layers of paint on it but Nic and I wanted to paint it a different color. So....off to Lowe's we went to get an electric sander so Nic could start working on the dresser. Here are the before and after pictures.

I decided that I was going to try and start sewing things for Bentley. Now I have never had a sewing class so I am very much a beginner but I wanted to start on a burp cloth. My first one was not the best but I am going to start working on more burp clothes so that I can become better at sewing. Below is a picture of my first sewing project.

Now I have not been very good at posting belly pictures but here is one that was taken at 24 weeks. I am now 27 weeks so I have grown since then but hopefully I will be putting up a new picture soon.

The Beginning of the Nursery....

So this last weekend, Nic and I started working on the nursery. It is already painted a light green so we are keeping it that color and are doing brown and blue accents. The crib that we really wanted was on sale this past weekend and so we now have a crib!! As soon as we got home from Target, Nic put the crib together. It looks great!

We also started doing some decorations. We want to do alot of the bedding and decorations ourselves so we started working on them this weekend.

And.....the finished product.....

21 Weeks

Well, We are about half way there! This past week I hit the 21 week mark. So far, this pregnancy has been great. For the last couple of weeks I have felt the baby move all around. It is just such a neat feeling. I can't wait for the movements to get stronger so Nic can feel them. Right now, they aren't strong enough for him to exactly feel. We go for another check up on the 22 of this month and I can't wait to hear my sweet baby's heartbeat again. Below is my 21 weeks belly shot!

It's A..........

                                                BOY!!!!!

Nic and I are so excited about having a boy!! I am not so sure I am going to know what to do with a boy but Nic is fairly certain he is going to be a football player. :) We had sort of an idea when we went for our first trimester ultrasound because the ultrasound tech said she thought it might have been a boy and she was right. As soon as she started the ultrasound today it was clear as day that it was a boy! The doctor said that the baby was measuring big which is great and he has long arms and long legs.  This afternoon I was already out shopping at Marshalls looking at cute little boy clothes. Now we get to start putting together the nursery which Nic and I are so excited about. We also get to finally decide on a name. We already have some ideas but we still have a while to officially decide. Here are some pictures from today's ultrasound.

Belly Pics!

I am now 16 weeks along and this baby is growing and growing. I have began reading some baby and pregnancy books which are so entertaining to me. Nic and I have visited Babies R Us to get an idea of what we might like for this little baby of ours. For first time parents, Babies R Us can be very overwhelming! There are just so many options and so many different things to factor in when looking for strollers, car seats, bottles and more.  We go to the doctor on June 7th just for a check up and then hopefully by the end of June we will be finding out the sex of our baby!! We can't wait to find out what it is. I feel like that appointment is not going to come soon enough.  Since I am 16 weeks, I decided that maybe it was time to start taking some belly pictures and of course Gracie wanted her picture with the baby too!

We are out of the first trimester!

So, this past week we went to the doctor to have the first trimester screening done. During the appointment,  they do is an ultrasound, listen to the heartbeat and then some blood work. The appointment went great and the doctor was pleased with everything that he saw. The heart beat was 152 which was good and strong. The ultrasound tech showed us all angles of the baby which was so cool. She was trying to get certain pictures for the doctor and the baby wasn't quite participating so our ultrasound took a little bit longer. The baby was moving around but not to much....it must have been napping time. haha! Attached are the pictures from the ultrasound. For some of those who can't figure it out, I have labels pointing to where things are.
